Erica & Sean had a rainy spring morning for their Tudor Place elopement in Washington, D.C.. They woke up before the sun and shared a first look in the lobby of the Salamander Hotel. They chose the location because of the private walkway access to avoid crowds going to the tidal basin, where the cherry blossoms were blooming. After their first look, we walked over to the tidal basin together as the sun started to rise. It was a mostly cloudy morning with rain sprinkling us a few times and the water levels at the basin were extremely high so there were some areas of flooding. Regardless we found a few spots where we could enjoy the blossoms on the trees and they had some privacy to share their handwritten personal vows with each other. After exploring the cherry blossoms at the tidal basin, we walked over to the Jefferson Memorial to take some portraits at that landmark as well.
Later that morning we went over to Tudor Place in Georgetown for their intimate ceremony. Tudor Place is such a great location for DC Elopements or Micro-weddings. They have a few different offerings for small private events in their gardens and even have backup rain options under the terrace of the historic mansion or inside by a fireplace mantel. They started their ceremony at the bowling green lawn becuase they loved the greenery and fountains. Even when it started to rain it didn’t stifle any of their joy. After the ceremony we explored more of the grounds and they shared a first dance on the mansion terrace before going off to their brunch celebration.
