When most people picture their wedding day, they imagine and hope for sunshine and blue skies. But there’s something really romantic about a little rain. Seth and Nina’s rainy wedding in Fells Point, Baltimore, was the perfect example of that!
Seth and Nina didn’t want a traditional wedding. What they wanted was something simple, relaxed, and deeply meaningful. Their whole relationship was built in Maryland and their families are local so it felt fitting to stay in Baltimore and take this next step together on their anniversary.
They decided to skip the courthouse (which didn’t quite fit their personalities) and instead spent the day visiting a few of their favorite local spots around Baltimore with their parents as witnesses. They wanted something simple, natural, and personal—and that’s exactly what they got.

We started just after sunrise at Broadway Pier in Fells Point. The city was quiet, the sky was soft grey, and the waterfront looked beautifully moody. The rain had already started by the time we arrived, and kept falling gently for most of the morning.
Armed with clear umbrellas, Seth and Nina wandered through cobblestone streets and along the waterfront. They wanted to include their parents in their elopement day, and their parents were willing to walk around in the rain right alongside them, which was really sweet!

After exploring the pier and nearby cobblestone streets, we stopped at Pitango Bakery to warm up with coffee and croissants. It was the perfect opportunity to pause, dry off, and enjoy time together.
From there, we drove to North Point State Park in Edgemere for their elopement ceremony. The park offered the peaceful, natural setting they’d been looking for, with trails surrounded by trees, views of the bay, and even a field of sunflowers still in bloom. Luckily, the rain had stopped for their ceremony!
After Seth and Nina exchanged their vows, we spent some time exploring the park’s trails and sunflower fields, took more portraits with their parents, and soaked in the last moments of the day.
There’s something uniquely beautiful about a rainy wedding! Rain can bring out the kind of intimacy you can’t plan for, like the laughter under shared umbrellas or hiding away in a cozy cafe.
If your elopement day forecast calls for rain, it doesn’t have to ruin your plans. With the right mindset, layers, and clear umbrellas, it can add a sense of romance and spontaneity that sunny days can’t match.
As long as the weather is not dangerous, we’ll make the most out of any conditions. That said, my priority is for you to always feel comfortable and not stressed. As long as your timeline allows it, we can watch the forecast and adjust things as needed, and fall back on Plan B or C.

If you’re dreaming of a relaxed, meaningful day like Seth and Nina’s, rain or shine, I’ve got you! You don’t need perfect weather to have perfect photos. You just need a day that feels like yours.
