Billy and Nuria wanted a day that felt simple, meaningful, and true to them. They wanted to find a place where they could exchange private vows outdoors, celebrate with their immediate family, and spend a quiet weekend together, rather than hosting a huge event.
They envisioned “mountains, a cozy cabin, and a little bit of hiking,” so a Shenandoah National Park elopement felt like the perfect fit.

One of the best things about eloping in Shenandoah National Park is how versatile it is. Whether you want an epic hike, a short trail with panoramic views, or a drive-up overlook, you’ve got options. And when Billy & Nuria told me they were looking for a mountain location that was still close to home and accessible for their families, I immediately thought of Shenandoah.
Just a few hours’ drive from home, it gave them a way to celebrate over multiple days with their closest people, bring their little pup, and also sneak away for that “just us” moment on the mountain.

Billy and Nuria got ready together, helping each other with final touches, and hiked up the trail in the quiet stillness of the morning.
We started the day early with a sunrise hike to Stony Man Trail. It’s an easy, short hike with an incredible panoramic view, easily one of the most beautiful overlooks in Shenandoah. But it is also known for being very windy, and it was no different this morning.

Billy and Nuria handled it with total grace and laughter. Wrapped in each other’s warmth, they read their vows with the mountains stretching endlessly behind them, and the weather just added to the story.
After the ceremony and more photos in the mountains, we headed back to their Airbnb cabin in Stanley, Virginia. The cabin was tucked into the woods with open views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it was a gorgeous place to celebrate with their families and their adorable pup, TipToe.
That afternoon, they held their formal ceremony at the Airbnb. Their ceremony took place on the lawn behind the cabin, with an A-frame arch and a handful of chairs for their families. The mountains were still visible in the distance.
TipToe even had a special role, carrying the rings in a tiny green case engraved with “From TipToe”. It was the cutest thing!
Later, they celebrated with a private chef–prepared dinner, enjoying good food, conversation, and the comfort of being surrounded by the people who matter most.
Billy and Nuria first met on Hinge during a time when first dates involved face masks. Their first date was at a coffee shop in Roanoke, and they hit it off immediately. Since then, their relationship has been built around spending time outdoors, traveling, and hosting family at their cabin in West Virginia.
When they thought about getting married, a traditional wedding never felt right. As they put it:
“We thought that getting married this way would make it more about us, make it simpler, just us with our most immediate family having a good day together and not having to worry about 100+ guests. We feel that the way we are, in a traditional wedding, it’d be hard for us to focus on ourselves and enjoy the day.”
Their priority was a fun but chill day outdoors, time to connect with each other, and a celebration that reflected their relationship. And this Shenandoah National Park absolutely nailed it!
